Dear Students, Parents and Staff;
QTS is very concerned about the health and welfare of our school community with the development ofof Covid 19.
Quileute Nation requires a mask in public buildings.
QTS expects all to properly wear an approved mask in the buildings and buses. QTS staff met yesterday to discuss how we might “tighten” up expectations for all. We expect to share those expectations on Friday, January 7th with the greater school community. We will begin by expecting all to enter onto a bus with a properly worn mask. Staff are revisiting with students with age level appropriate conversations about the importance of properly wearing an approved mask. Administration will be visiting directly with Grade 7/8 and Grade 9-12 students. We hope to get student leaders involved in helping. Tighter procedures are being discussed by staff that are in line with our new initiative (2021) around Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Conscious Discipline. Stay tuned for more messages in the coming days as staff will revisit this topic together on Friday, January 7th. In the meantime, please monitor temperatures at home, properly wear an approved mask on the bus and in public buildings, wash your hands regularly and keep your child home if they are sick.
We are seeing a small uptick at QTS already in this variant within the staff. Fortunately it has been mild but we are still quite concerned.
QTS Staff and Administration
PS: An approved mask at this point must have two layers. A single layer cloth covering is not acceptable. QTS is learning that the ideal mask for this new variant is a KN95, KN94 but these can be cost prohibitive for some. A medical mask is the minimum acceptable. Cloth masks with one layer are unacceptable. More to come on these details as we continue to learn daily. Thank you for your patience and support.
